Book Review Magazine:
If you like fascinating, powerful, epic fantasy fiction like The Lord of The Rings, then you’ll be highly entertained and completely enthralled by Nathanael Bazzell’s writing debut, The Binding of the Twelve. It’s a unique, original and intense fantasy story written with the skill and imagination that will grip and captivate readers from start to finish.
In The Binding of The Twelve, Fife, a keeper of wisdom takes center stage. After he receives a message that changes everything, he learns he must unite the three lands by using the very things he protects and creating a new order of twelve. As ancient evil threatens his world, the responsibility is completely on Fife to find the chosen twelve and unveil buried truths. But…is he up for the task?
Fife reminded me a lot of Frodo from The Hobbit. They are both humble but have a job to do. It’s not something they wanted or asked for, but the weight of the world is on their shoulders, and they each rise to the task. But it’s a great burden to bear. Bazzell writes with skill. This remarkable world he’s created is incredibly detailed and amazing—you can tell he practically lives in it. The story contains intriguing political and fascinating philosophical depth. Bazzell demonstrates his expertise by including one of the most impactful elements that any story can possibly include to inspire readers and keep them hooked and contemplative which is the element of—sacrifice. His quest and mission is intensely adventurous and gravely important. It’s all up to Fife, but like steel thrown into a fire, out comes a sword. He’s stronger and sharper for it.
Any Tolkien fan or fantasy fiction enthusiast would immensely enjoy this clever expressive novel. The world building is immense, enthralling and written so well that readers imaginations will be visually captivated. The characters are fascinating and well-developed. The descriptions of the scenes, personalities of the characters, and all the vivid details of the settings, and amazing surroundings along with keen depictions of various objects and things all pulls the reader in like a magnet straight into the life of the story. I felt as though the story was alive and I was right there watching on as this distinct imaginative story unfolds. This is storytelling and writing at its best. With suspense, a great quest, adventure and outstanding characters, it will soon be listed among the top epic fantasy, adventure novels to read. I could not put it down! The Binding of the Twelve (The Chronicles of the Orphan King Book 1) is highly recommended. Book reviewed by Elle Alouette for Book Review Magazine.
